Philanthropy
An important part of being a Zeta is taking time to give back to, and help shape a better community. At Psi Chapter, we take an active role in service work by planning at least one service event each quarter. This gives us an opportunity to contribute to local organizations such as Northwest Harvest and The Healing Center in Greenlake, all the while strengthening our sisterhood and forging great relationships with our surrounding community. Our upcoming service event for the quarter is a trip to the Arboretum to participate in the FlorAbundance Spring Plant Sale.
Zeta Tau Alpha's national philanthropic cause is towards breast cancer research and education. As of 1992, the Susan G. Komen foundation became ZTA's philanthropic beneficiary but since then we have expanded to include many other organizations that work towards breast cancer research or education. With this broadened sphere ZTA has established a philanthropic relationship with organizations and events such as "Think Pink!", the National Football League, Yoplait, Courage Night, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and many others.
Psi Chapter is incredibly passionate about our amazing philanthropy. We work relentlessly to raise funds as well as to promote breast cancer awareness in our own community. Every year we send delegates to Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure, either to run in the 5k race or to help out in the survivor's tent which is an amazing way to meet women who have dealt with and conquered breast cancer. We also work with the Susan G. Komen foundation at their annual gala held at the Fairmont in Seattle. In our own community we frequently hand out shower cards for breast self-exams or pink ribbons to promote awareness at various booths on campus.

Our biggest philanthropy events are our Crown Cup Soccer Tournament and Hoops 4 Hope. Crown Cup is held every fall and each year many fraternities participate in soccer games and exciting night activities. Hoops 4 Hope is held in the spring time and is a basketball tournament open to all fraternities and sororities. Both events are extremely successful in raising funds and everyone involved always has a fun time!
We are constantly looking for new ways to support our philanthropy and every year we discover new venues for promoting or volunteering for breast cancer awareness and education. It is also important to us to participate in the philanthropic efforts of other sororities and fraternities and we take pride in helping to raise funds for many important causes.
